Fisrt setup - uncertainties

I've just downloaded and installed Copssh on my Vista Home Premium workstation.

I used the default user and password issued by the install script and then went to option 2 to add a user account. I added the account to my main session account.

All looked fine but then realised that the services will not start and it's down to an authentication issue.

This is the first time I've installed an SSH server. I read the Readme but am clearly missing some vital steps.

Please help me get started 'literally' :)

sshd_config read-only under Vista

Hi all,

I've just installed successfully copssh 1.4.6 on Vista (Premium Family Edition). Logged in as a user with administrators rights, I couldn't save any change in the file sshd_config : with WordPad when trying to save the modifications, I got something like "access refused", and for gVim the file is read-only.

SOLVED: CopSSH 1.4.6 Windows Vista (64 bit only?) errors: ssh_exchange_identification, fork unprivileged, shell request failed

/ few minor edits addedd 04-FEB-2009 /

I fought for several days to make CopSSH 1.4.6 run on my Windows Vista Enterprise 64 bit.

I am not sure the problem is exactly with the 64-bit Vista version, but I had CopSSH running fine on Vista 32-bit in January 2008. So it might be the 64-bit-ness.

The problem:
You install CopSSH 1.4.6 on Vista 64 bit, "activate" a user and then try to test connectivity by running

ssh IPADDRESS

pre-xfer exec work in XP but not in Vista

Hi,

I use pre-xfer exec as well as post-xfer exec successfully in WindowsXP. Unfortunately the same setup/configuration did not work in Vista :-O

My rsyncd.conf:
max connections = 6
log file = /var/log/backup-service.log
read only = false
write only = false
transfer logging = no
list = false
max verbosity = 6
address = 127.0.0.1
pre-xfer exec = /etc/Backup/pre-exec.sh
post-xfer exec = /etc/Backup/post-exec.sh
========================
My pre-exec.sh:
echo "pre-exec: deactivate suspend/hibernate" >> $logFile
/bin/DisableSuspend.exe >> $logFile

exit 0
